100 Pounds, 60+ Inches

I posted new pictures on Facebook yesterday and it occurred to me that some of my readers don't follow me on Facebook.  So I proudly give you the "before" and "current" picture of my weight loss journey.  I have officially shed 100 pounds.

My Weekend - a little late

This past weekend we went to Bainbridge Island to see CR's brother and his wife - D&M and to see their new home on the island and also to see their son, his wife, their 3 year old Ian and their new baby Abril.  We had a lovely time and the island is so beautiful.  One of the reasons for our visit was that Monica and I were going to do the Walk from Obesity in Bellevue.  We did that Saturday morning and it was a gorgeous day in the Puget Sound area.  They get a lot of rain so you really appreciate the days that are warm and sunny and beautiful.  I did take a few pictures of the event, but sadly I didn't get a picture of Mon and I together - what a putz, right.

Before the walk started there were some speakers, so here are some folks listening.

Lots of sponsors and information and freebies for the folks who attended.

And there I am to the left - waiting for the walk to begin.

And we are off...................

At the finish line

Hooray!!

To get to Bainbridge Island we took a Ferry - it's about a 30 minute crossing.  Madison didn't like the sounds the ferry made, but she was a trooper about it all.

Here she is a the last rest stop headed home - she thought she should drive the rest of the way and give Dad a break.  As always she was a very good girl on the trip, but very freaked out about their hard wood floors.  What is it about dogs and slick floors.  She is definitely a carpet kinda girl.

I am officially down 100 pounds and have lost 60+ inches.  I didn't do my first measurements till I'd lost 30 pounds and so I've no idea the exact number - believe me the measurements were very scary when I did take them.  I came home with a flu bug so that I why it's taken me so long to post about the weekend.  Ugh, it's been a rough few days.  We are off this Saturday to go up north and fish for steelhead for a week.  I hope to have some excellent pictures of what we catch, we are both super excited to do this as we've never fished for steelhead before.  Hope you are all happy and well............until next time!!

Hugs your way................T

3 Month Check up since WLS Surgery

Hi All,

Sorry I don't have pictures to share - I still shy away from the camera and try to avoid it.  I'm hoping that will change as I mentally process my new body image.  I had my 3 month post-op check up this past Friday and it was exciting.  The average at this stage of the game is a 30% loss of excess weight, well I guess I am an over achiever because my loss at this point is 56% of my excess weight.  The Nurse Practitioner told me that they usually only see this in young people - definitely not me as I'll be 50 a month from today.  All I can say is I'm working hard, following the plan and enjoying life.  I was so amazed at my progress that I almost shed a tear.  All that said I have to be honest and say that while they operate on your body, they don't operate on your mind and I've had times when I've had to fight the demons of my past mentally in wanting to make bad choices or eat for no reason, etc.  It's a daily practice of making good food choices, I journal everything I eat on Sparkpeople and I get on that treadmill 6 days a week for 45 minutes each day I'm on it.  When I started, I wasn't a fan of exercise, but I must say now that it feels good, I feel good that I can and do accomplish it and that my body can move so well.  I'm 1 pound away from losing 100 pounds which is exciting and I'm sure I'll have it done by next weekend at the latest.  Oh and speaking of next weekend, I'm doing the Walk from Obesity in Bellevue, WA.  My wonderful sister-in-law Monica is walking with me and I'm so excited to take part in this.  It's to raise money and awareness of obesity and help research ways to deal with obesity issues.  Shameless plug alert:  if you'd like to learn more and perhaps donate to an awesome cause, here is a link:  http://walkfromobesity.kintera.org/faf/donorReg/donorPledge.asp?ievent=433868&lis=0&kntae433868=526870761D6C4E57A1EA5701EBED2DBA&supId=299976751

Thank you all for your constant support and well wishes.  I will continue to post updates as I continue my journey.  I may be turning 50 in a month, but honestly I feel like I'm turning 30, I feel so alive and blessed.  I'm free of diabetes, my cholesterol is normal (136), my blood pressure is normal and my arthritis seems to have backed off and I don't ache like I used to.  Oh and my lower back which was such a mess, hasn't bothered me at all for a long time.  Who knew I'd reap so many wonderful benefits.

The only complication of the surgery I'm experiencing is hair loss, yep between the 3 to 6 month stage, the body does a "what the heck did you do to me" stage and hair loss is quite normal.  Thankfully I have a lot of hair, but I am considering cutting it short as I hate all the hair in the bathroom, etc.  Anyone seen any adorable short hair cuts lately???

Hugs to you all..............Tammy
