My Scarecrow

I meant to post this several days ago, but time has gotten away from me.  Mostly because of a darn cold and feeling like I was run over by a truck.  Feeling a bit better today, but with it still in my chest I still feel like a truck hit me.  So here is my scarecrow:

I just love him.  I got the pattern from one of my quilt magazines a couple of years ago.  Wish I could tell you which one, but I tear the patterns out, put them in sheet protectors and then in a binder.

I also took my first knitting class today and I absolutely LOVED it.  I took to it quickly and feel like I'll be making socks in no time - well once I learn to make a scarf and perhaps a shawl or two.  My local yarn shop of choice is Sheep's Clothing. Fine Yarns and Accessories - Owned by a lovely lady by the name of Marcia MacDonald who is also my teacher.

Once I have something to show, I'll be sure to post it.

Exciting News............

Well I've gone and done it - I signed up for my first knitting class today.  Every Wednesday for 7 weeks I'm gonna do my best to learn to knit.  I hope I can do it and I hope I like it because I really want to learn to knit socks.  In the meantime I've almost got my scarecrow wall hanging done and hope to post it this weekend.  Wish me luck, I'm sure I'll blog about how it's going!!  Have a great weekend Everyone!!

Fabulous Fifty

This past Tuesday I turned 50 and who knew it could be so much fun.  My new lease on life makes me feel more like 30 and my friends and family made me feel very special on my Birthday this year.  I was so spoiled with well wishes, wonderful gifts, beautiful cards, just spoiled.

I received a beautiful bouquet of flowers from my friend Laura.  So to add some beauty to your day - here are the flowers:

Birthday's are for Celebrating

This weekend we went to see our Grandson Ben and celebrate his 8th birthday a few days late and celebrate Grandma's 50th birthday a few days early.  It was a fabulous weekend of Tae Kwon Do and a soccer game and time spent with Ben - oh and his parents too!!  Ben is a busy boy and really enjoys his activities and it's so fun to watch him participate.  Saturday afternoon Ben had his birthday party at Wild Wall, a rock climbing place at the old armory in Spokane.  So, since I've lost 104 pound and since I'm about to turn 50 on the 19th, I decided that rock climbing was something this Grandma should try.  I didn't exactly scamper up and down the wall many times like the boys, but I climbed the wall twice and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed it.  I totally get why the boys were so excited to do it.  And just in case you need proof, here are a few pictures of Grandma scaling the wall.

I will definitely do this again!!

Time for a new hairdo

Now that I've lost 103 pounds and my 8 chins, I decided it was time for a new hairdo.  I've always like short hair - no fuss, no muss and so it was time to go back to what I like best:

I had considered going shorter, but decided it best to go in baby steps.  We recently went Steelhead fishing and didn't catch a steelhead, but did catch a bull trout, also known as a dolly varden.  I'm hope to get a that picture sent to me so I can post it.  It was pretty impressive - 25 inches at least and a good 6 pounds.  We learned a new fly fishing technique called spey casting using a two handed, 11 foot rod.  It was quite fun to learn something new, even if we didn't catch the elusive steelhead - perhaps next spring!!

I'll post pictures I fooled around taking of the Methow River area later in the week.  Fall certainly is here and here to stay and I find myself chilly as can be - no insulation I guess.

Hugs your way.............Tammy
