Chemo and a Finished Quilt

I had my first of 3 chemo treatments this past Friday.  Wish I could say it was a piece of cake, but as many people before me have said, and it seems to be true, it's harder each time.  However at this point, to be tumor free the benefits out weigh the issues it creates.

And even though I've been extremely tired and not feeling well I did not let or want that to stand in my way of completing Tori's quilt.  I'm so thrilled that I just completed it and will get it to my friend Ginny to quilt this week.  Hopefully I'll get it back by the time I return from seeing my Aunties in North Carolina, which in one month I will be there - so excited.

Here it is:

A full size view - although not completely, it would seem CR's arms can't reach quite that far.

A close up of the borders - love that blue and don't you just love the help I'm getting.

Tried to get a picture of Maddie, but she was not in the mood to pose and wouldn't look at me.

Meanwhile someone was getting his ears scritched and his tummy rubbed.  I think Scotchie is very spoiled!!

Well only 2 more treatments to go, whoo hoo.

To Much Work and Not Enough Fun

Seems like all I've done since we got home from vacation was work.  Monday I worked, then had a bunch of errands to run which resulted in someone backing into my car in the Walmart parking lot.  I was stopped so luckily it's just one huge ding from his bumper over my drivers side rear tire.  Then dealing with my insurance, his insurance - UGH.  Can you say HEADACHE.  Then I worked Tuesday, Wednesday I had my cancer check and even though it was a long day of traveling, we got good news and I am so grateful for that.  Thursday and Friday I worked longer than normal days and Saturday I ran like a chicken with her head cut off getting stuff done so I could work today as well.  See why I'm not having fun here.

This week will be more of the same, working 8 to 3:30, Monday through Thursday.  While I was on vacation one gal quit, another was fired and we are short staffed, so I'm stepping up and working more till we get someone hired and trained since I'll be gone for 3 weeks to see my Aunties in North Carolina at the end of Sept.  This schedule won't be easy, I'll be having chemo every Friday on top of it so at some point I am going to run out of steam and I'm not going to be able to clean like I do in the salon with these longer days.  I know, quit anticipating and just let it work itself out, right.

One thing I'm excited to show you is the blocks for Tori's quilt.  They're not sewn together yet, but I've laid them out to make sure I like how it looks when it all comes together.  I'll start sewing them together and then the rows together this week.  Next weekend I plan put the inner and outer borders on and then it will be ready to take to my friend Ginny to quilt.  Okay so I'm having a little bit of fun since I've been doing some sewing, just not enough!!

Here are the blocks laid out:

The inner border will be the Tiffany blue you see in a few of the blocks and the outer border will be black and white fabric.  It's twin size in case you're wondering.  I used a free pattern called Star Fling from the P&B Textiles website.  It's a fun pattern and the results look so different depending on color choices.

Tumor Free

Had my 3 month check up for my Bladder Cancer and again I was tumor free.  It would seem the BCG Chemo treatments are doing what they are supposed to and I couldn't be happier.  So starting next Friday, 3 more weeks of chemo to continue to be tumor free.  I'm just on cloud nine tonight.

Back Home

We had a wonderful time on vacation and fishing.  The only thing that even caused a bit of an issue was blowing a tire on the 5th Wheel on the way home.  But hey, despite being tired and exhausted from the heat, we all arrived home safe and sound.  The 5th Wheel is unpacked, the laundry is almost done and we have a lot of work to do to catch up.  It was hot as can be while we were gone and some of our plants are showing it.

This Wednesday is my cancer check, praying that my bladder remains tumor free so that I can have 3 more chemo treatments.

Here are some pictures from out trip, enjoy:

The first catch - for me

Another catch for me

CR caught the big one for that day

An Osprey watching over us

The Osprey's nest

Caught this beauty in the local swimming hole

the next several pictures of of the local swimming hole area, you can see the bubble on the water - that is what we fishers call the foam line and sometime hitting a foam line can bring a fish or two up, in my case, I caught several in that magical foam line so I had to snap some pictures of it!!

Another fish caught in the foam line

a view as we were going along fishing - gorgeous scenery

CR brought in this beautiful cut throat trout - again he may not catch the quantity, but he gets the biggest fish every time.
We are glad to be home for the most part.  I have a quilt I have to get finished and put together and to my friend Ginny to quilt and we have company coming in mid-September to go on a winery tour with us and then at the end of September I will fly to North Carolina and see my Aunties.  All that will give me good thoughts and things to look forward to while I go through the chemo treatments.
