This past year I've had some of the weirdest skin issues.  One of them is on my ring finger - suddenly wearing my wedding ring became very painful.  My finger would turn bright red and peel and itch and it was just painful.  Turns out, I've developed an allergy to the gold.  And the reason - chemo, well that explains so much doesn't it.  So last week I had my ring rhodium plated so that what touches my skin won't irritate it.  And it's a beautiful thing once again!!

I have been busy putting a lot of thread mileage on Aunt Bea lately.  Since the people I'm sewing for don't read my blog, or at least they've never mentioned it, I think it's safe to show you.

A Christmas Throw/Table Topper for a friend.

I made 2 of these snowmen for my Aunties for Christmas
Been having fun adding fabric strips to tea towels.  This one is for my kitchen
I have also been baking - it's that time of year when we will head off to Cannon Beach for a while.

Yummy pumpkin scones, several loaves of Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bread and today I'm baking some Cherry Almond Biscotti.  The other day I also baked Pumpkin Corn Bread.  I got the recipe from Pots and Pins.  I thought it sounded interesting enough to try and it didn't let me down, it was delicious.

Well I had better get busy, that biscotti won't bake itself.  What have you been up to and are you gearing up for the Thanksgiving holiday??

I have been a busy girl.  First, I finished a beautiful table topper in Christmas Fabrics for a friend for Christmas.  Wish I could post a picture, but I don't want to take a chance of ruining a surprise.

Secondly I have been in the mood to organize and have a proper "pantry" of things I use to cook with in the winter when one doesn't get fresh veggies & fruit from farmers market and grill on the BBQ.  So I have cleaned, organized and with my small kitchen I have maximized my space to everything has a place rather than the mess I've had for way to long.  And let me tell you, it feels good!!

Here is my Pantry cupboard with baking things, chicken stock, oils, canned goods, etc.

Here is my newly cleaned up and arranged spice cupboard.

I have baking spices separated from the cooking spices and then all of Cliff's meat rubs, etc are on the second shelf and much easier to find (and out of my way).

I also got into this one huge mess of a cupboard I had that I swear had 50 million vases in it and I don't do fresh flowers because my one cat eats them.  So I cleaned it out and now have a space for the things I do use so that they are easy to get to and yet are out of the way.

What should I tackle next, hmmm, well we are going to be going to the Oregon Coast for Thanksgiving so I must tackle some baking for the trip, and preparations for what to get at the grocery store, etc.  Lots to do and a couple more Christmas gifts in the making as well.

Tell me what are you up to and how long has it been since you organized??  I won't admit how long it's taken me to get my act together, it's to embarrassing!!

Lets Talk Turkey

Where did October go?  Do you all find yourselves pondering that question.  I know I just can't believe it's November already.  And in honor of November, it's time to put the Halloween specific decorations away and bring out the Turkeys.

I love my turkey decorations.  Thanksgiving is our favorite holiday.  We always spend it at the Oregon Coast and it's a really special time of year for us.

It's a blustery, rainy, grey day around here, but I wanted to take a couple of pictures of our tree - a silver maple.  It's leaves have turned in the last few days and with the expected winds we are to have this afternoon, I'm not sure I can wait for a sunny day to get a picture.  Unless you want pictures of leaf piles being raked up.

Our leaves turn a golden yellow.  Our neighbor's leaves turn a reddish color, so I took a picture of his tree as well:

I've finally put the short sleeve t-shirts and summer wear away and put all my sweaters and fall/winter clothes in the closet.  Even with the mild low 60's for temps that we've been having, it's time to prepare for the shorter days and cooler weather that is upon us.

I've been busy in my sewing room, but I can't show anything because I'm working on a couple of Christmas presents.
